In Fulfilling the Great Commission

I began to become an official "Church-Planter" when I started the JIL Church in White Rock, BC. It was 1990 with a start-up group of 8 willing and passionate JIL workers. Since then, God has placed upon my heart to plant as many JIL congregations as possible to fulfill the Great Commission through many willing and able-bodied God's servants. The desire was deeply planted being a JIL Worker since 1985 and personally witnessed and experienced it.

My encounter with "church-planting"began as a JIL Church worker handling a small cell group in the JIL Community Outreach Ministry in Marulas, Valenzuela. I was also involved in the JIL School Outreach Ministry in MCU Caloocan, though unofficially but officially involved in UE, Recto. And these are the two major places that I've receive unintentional training program in handling a small group of people. Everything starts small as this was God's principle as well. Be faithful with what one has received and it will grow eventually with God's favor.

I want to share what I have learned and experienced for anyone who is interested in knowing what was involved in the process. I can tell you now, it is not easy because nothing is done without enough ammunition to sustain oneself. It needs to be done with a view for the long haul. This year, I just celebrated my 20 years of being a JIL Pastor in Canada and I am still looking forward for more great adventures with God.

At the moment, I have the privilege of being instrumental in assisting other JIL Churches see their potential as well in the area of Church-Planting ever since I was given the opportunity to do so. But this was the result of a journey taken earlier that gave me the opportunity to see things happen in this regard.

Until next time....

JIL BC 20th Anniversary and A Night with Bro. Eddie and Sis. Dory Banquet Diner

This might be the longest blog so far. Please bear with me as you read it...

Thank you very much and congratulations to all JIL BC congregations, Pastors and Coordinators, leaders and workers for being part of what God has done in the past 20 years. You are a precious partner in the ministry of the JIL Church Worldwide. Your presence and prayers have made the celebration victorious and glorious. Having been at the beginning seems just like yesterday and to see how God has blessed this ministry this past 20 years is truly His work and for His glory alone! There's more to come!

The Anniversary celebration held at the new Vancouver Convention Center was the place to honour God's faithfulness towards us. He deserved the best place in this city to shower His Majesty with the adoration and worship of His people. The whole atmosphere from beginning to start was amazing and all aspect of the service was indeed designed to please our only audience of One. I believe that the glory was given to Him alone. Congratulations to all who have assisted and given their time and effort to make this celebration a truly historic one. Celebrating 20 years only come this time and it was all worth it. Thank you very much. It is God that will bless you mightily for honoring Him.

What made this celebration even historic and memorable was the presence of Bro Eddie and Sis Dory Villanueva together with their family. The last time they were here was during the celebration of the 10th Anniversary at the Michael J. Fox Theater. Having them in this gathering and double decade celebration being the spiritual parents of the JIL family was indeed a glorious one.

Congratulations to the recipients to the Award of Appreciation for being part of the early years of JIL BC since 1991. How the years have passed and you are a testimony to us all of your faithfulness to a Faithful God! We have all grown old together with God's youthful favour and fervour for God's ministry. We have all shared a vision to see this celebration and we have made it this far and will complete it until Jesus comes!

The Banquet Dinner was equally worth the attendance seeing many aspect of honoring the Lord and honoring His people who deserved it occurred. One of the memorable aspect was how every table had their picture taken with Bro. Eddie and Sis. Dory Villanueva. I had fun doing it with them going in each table. Although it was not an easy thing to do yet as the people enjoyed it, Bro Eddie and Sis Dory, like a newly married couple joyously went in each table having their pictures taken with the people they cherished and loved. It was a great time for all. They rounded up around 70 tables and it was such a wonderful time....Wait for the official rendering of the table pictures. You will like it, I guarantee!

This celebration have also become an opportunity for the ordination of Rev. Raymund Dagampat, Rev. Amy Vilog and Rev. Malou Quilitis who started from JIL BC and became Pastors as well. Congratulations! They are an exemplary model servants of God's Kingdom and genuine assets of the JIL Church Worldwide. I salute you!!!! They are an inspiration for me personally seeing them doing what God has assigned them to do. Truly remarkable achievements for God's glory alone.

Also, this celebration became an opportunity for the appointment of the New Regional Supervising Pastor of JIL Canada Region 2: British Columbia and Manitoba in the person of Rev. Mary Juarana. I am personally a witness of how God transforms His servants as mighty men and women for His glory alone. She has exemplified being a genuine servant of the Lord. Personally, she has been sent to where the Lord has opened the door to minister and there she will be without hesitation but with much dependence on the Lord for His mighty things. She will fulfill this new task with excellence. Congratulations for I know that the Lord will yield tremendous things for JIL BC in the next years to come....Be ready JIL BC!

Yet the Lord has something great reserved not just for the JIL Family Worldwide but for the JIL First family as well on the appointment of the new Full-Time CYN Pastor in the person of the youngest daughter of Bro. Eddie and Sis. Dory Villanueva, Edelisha Jovi Villanueva- Binalla. Hallelujah! Truly this is a historic celebration. Congratulations to the CYN International for having a Pastor like David that will fulfill her purpose for God's glory alone!

Last but not the least, I am filled with utmost gratitude for all of you that became part of JIL BC since the day you came and have partnered with us. Our joy as ministers of the Lord was to fulfill our calling. Ptr Monette and I are truly privileged to be of service to all of you whatever we can together with all the pastors, leaders and workers of this ministry. Thank you for your commitment to this journey. Another level is yet to come. Let's all be ready for it!

Together, let's lift up Jesus Is Lord over British Columbia!

JIL Ontario 19th Anniversary - Sept 12, 2010 @ MTCC, 12:00pm

It was 19 years ago when a small bible study started in Toronto by a group of JIL workers from Hong Kong emigrated to Canada as Contract Workers. They were also armed with a vision and passion to see the banner of Jesus Is Lord raised in this part of Canada. It was faith-filled actions that led them to gather and declare Jesus Is Lord and started God's work in the biggest city of Canada. Today, many churches and outreaches has been planted even in the neighbouring province of Quebec and New York as well.

Seeing first-hand how it has grown to where it is now, overwhelming joy is overflowing within me that God's favour and mighty blessings are upon JIL Ontario since then. Having been part of its life in the early stage provided greater inspiration to serve more the purposes of God in my life and others. Truly, it was a worthwhile journey towards great things. There is more to come!

With this, I congratulate JIL Ontario and JIL Quebec with its pastors, leaders, workers and every JIL people led by its passionate and vision-driven Regional Supervising Pastor Bong and equally outstanding wife, Ptr Rose Gonzales. The whole JIL Ontario and Quebec Churches and Outreaches are working together to see Jesus lifted up where they are and will do so until He comes. Keep up the good work as you seek to fulfill the JIL MVV!

Our prayer are with you for there are great things that the Lord has prepared for you....Watch out for it! God bless!

Canada Youth (CYN) Camp

Two youth camp has been scheduled this year for JIL Canada - Eastern Canada youth camp composed of JIL Ontario and Quebec delegates just completed last week and the Western Canada camp composed of JIL BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Seattle, WA delegates started today until Sunday.

Their theme, "Significant Generation" is a declaration of their intention to make a difference through Jesus Christ. It is through this kind of gatherings that new leaders are produced to take on the baton to carry towards the next generation.

To involve the young people towards fulfilling the Great Commission at their age now is a must. The church has a responsibility to challenge them through this events. Seeing how God calls and choose the next generation of church leaders is very exciting to see first-hand.

I am very excited to see and become part of what God will do to these young people. I was once a young person also that led many other young people to the Lord and it was such a great time. They were opportunities towards God's plan for my life then and has continued up to this time. I intend to become significant in the lives of the young people that the Lord will bring along my way as much as I can.

This is my passion and will continue to do so until Jesus comes or until my departure from this earth, whichever comes first.

Birth of Another JIL Outreach in Kelowna

Seeing the birth of another JIL Outreach as far away as the Okanagan Valley is truly something to behold. With God’s hand on it, one can only welcome where His hand would lead you. But it was a long road from its inception. Okanagan Valley was one region that our eyes was set on to establish a JIL Church. A declaration was shouted over it through prophetic gestures and prayers for the past years. Even contacts and communication was established with some JIL people living there at one point but it was not yet the proper time.

Then, the wait was over, two weeks ago, Ptr Mary visited our brethren in Kelowna and Penticton to challenge them towards the opportunity of a JIL Outreach opened in these two cities. Two weeks after, a Pastors and Staff outing including their families was decided. It will be a road trip to Osoyoos and Kelowna. And whenever you placed everything in Gods hands, things will go His way.

It was last Saturday when we met our willing and excited brethren from Kelowna to do some cherry picking and a fellowship dinner afterwards. It was through these simple activities that the door to officially conduct the 1st Sunday Service the next day was discussed. It was a step of faith that they took by renting a space in a nearby hotel even before we came. God was truly involved in it!

Two target cities, one is already opened and the other is being prepared. God is good! Now, we can truly declare that Jesus Is Lord over the Okanagan Valley and we are on our way to seeing other cities opened in the nearby future as well.

Things were moving and JIL Kelowna has formed its Leadership Management Team (LMT) from five (5) enthusiastic and faith-filled women. In addition, they will also attend the upcoming Encounter. Praise the Lord!

You are all very much part of what had transpired in the City of Kelowna as the “Best Blooming City. ” A JIL Outreach was opened as a result of its declaration and JIL Church experienced it first hand. There is no coincidence with God but all are part of His purpose and plan. When we become obedient to it, we will see His mighty hand move in a mighty way. Keep praying for more JIL people willing to partner with God in the Great Commission. Let God be glorified!

It's Summer Time!!!

This is the summer season that we are in Vancouver most of its duration. It is really, really good! Having to enjoy it with family is a special thing to have. Although there were cancelled schedules and trips but altogether, it worked out well....But most of all, it is great to see what the Lord is doing with the JIL Churches in Canada. So far, I have visited JIL Alberta and it is good to see their excitement for the new things that are ahead....Next will be JIL Manitoba to join their anniversary celebration..

However one looks at it, God will never open doors of opportunity without His guidance and favor in order to see it work successfully. This is how the ministry becomes easy. There is no struggle whatsoever even in the midst of challenges...

As JIL Canada reaches its milestone, great things are sure to be ahead...What a sight to see God's people at work for His glory alone...

Until next time...God bless us all as we do His work and purpose in our lives.

Celebrate Jesus Together Gathering in Vancouver

Last nite was a great night out with the multi-ethnic family of God in Vancouver worshipping and praying together as one voice. The Glad Tidings Church in Vancouver, BC became another house of prayer and praise for God's people from the different ethnic community churches gathered specifically to worship Jesus.

There were many highlights to share but the greatest impact will be upon the city of Vancouver. It was a night to plant a seed of faith from the many voices of God's people seeking revival and renewal for this city as a whole. A continuous bombardment through worship and prayer must be offered to experience a mighty breakthrough. i believe that when it comes, it will be a glorious day...Let's keep on praying...It is coming on the horizon....

JIL Abbotsford, BC Outreach Launching Today!

What a great day to celebrate another JIL BC opening of an Outreach in Abbotsford, BC. The place was packed with JIL Surrey 1-3 workers represented that fully supported the event including the JIL Abbotsford brethren. There were visitors who came as well.

JIL Abbotsford brethren were filled with joy and excitement as another milestone is unfolded right before our eyes. God graced the event with His presence and the Music Ministry was jamming away in God' presence led by Marjorie and her team with the congregation fully into it. I had the opportunity to share the message, "People Need the Lord." I had fun also in serving this way.

Altogether, the whole event was a testimony to God's faithfulness to His people. A big congratulations to the JIL Abbotsford leadership and congregation headed by Fred Pangan as the Outreach Coordinator. Way to go! It has begun and be ready to see God's power at work.

Their service will be every Sunday @ 4:00pm. For more information, please contact Fred Pangan. Pictures will be posted soon at the JIL Canada website: www.jilcanada.com. Keep visiting!

What a Great Day!

There can never be anything that can match when one see a milestone of God's favor. This is especially true when JIL Langley Outreach was officially opened yesterday. The day was hot but the people were very excited to see the reality of many prayers raised up together by the JIL Church family of British Columbia.

The JIL Surrey 2-Fleetwood were most joyful in seeing JIL Langley Outreach released from them specifically. I was there to exhort them to become salt and light as Jesus intended to. It is a milestone and a manifestation of significant impact.

The JIL Canada were also instrumental in being partners of JIL Langley in many ways one cannot imagine. The whole JIL Canada rejoices with this achievement for God's glory alone!

There is more to come and we cannot wait for the next one!

God’s Promise

2 Cor 1:20, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.” NIV

The promise of God is always in our behalf and never against. It will be for our benefit to know them and to provide a canopy of strength and courage during difficult times. But most especially, let the promises of God become a rock-hard source of everyday power to face all kinds of situation. We only need to glance at the newsprint and hear news media of varying degrees of corruption caused by human nature imprinted with sin to recognize the need for God’s intervention. This is where God’s promises allow us to rise above all of it without being distant to the reality of where we are. People need a better promise that can be fulfilled without being influenced by personal desires. Many have done so but a promise backed-up by God will prevail always.

Remember that the enemy will always cause us to doubt God’s promises both in good times and bad times. Therefore, never give him a chance to do so. How do we do it? Keep hearing the promise of God and receive them with faith. When we do, our perspective of life will change significantly with a great impact in all aspects of our life. Try it and you will never be the same again. God’s promise yields a tremendous blessing in all season. Furthermore, it speaks to all levels of our concerns. The greatest about it is this: it is given for all generations to come and for all eternity.

We have promises that do not expire but works best at the most dire situations of life. C’mon, it is always available and easily accessible whenever we open the Scriptures. Men’ promises fail us but God’s promises will not and will never fail.

Serving God

What a great time to spend one's life to serve the purpose of God in my generation. I just came from a mission trip in USA and visited JIL Churches in LA, San Francisco and Sacramento. It was such a sight to see how God releases His mighty favor in putting everything right according to His time. And to see His people becomes very excited of the possibilities in the coming days is incredible. This is what it is all about: transformation of HIs people to become who they are as God desires. And being part of it personally makes it more worthwhile.

I was accompanied by my wife, Pastor Monette and having her with me in all my mission trips provides additional favor as well. To be with one's partner both in life and ministry makes it even better.

I thank God for the opportunity to serve Him....Looking forward for more....

Insights from the Word...
by Ptr . Aldrin Navo

SIGNIFICANT IMPACT OF THE CHURCH

Matthew 16:18b “…and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” NIV

What makes any congregation impenetrable against the attack of its enemy within and without? I believe that it is holding on to the promise that we will not be overcome by it. However, we must secure our grounds at all times and guard what has been entrusted to us with extra care and vigilance. In order to do this, the church must contend with sin that continuously assault God’s people through worldly attractions and distractions. Then it is followed by the constant barrage of temptation by Satan with his cunning strategy of stirring up the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. The main reason is this: to cause God’s people to fall away from their faith. It is a two-prong attack to weaken and demolish every believer’s faith.

Thus, turning the tide against Satan’s attack is through strengthening and maintaining a disciplined Christian life that includes regular bible study, habitual prayer with fasting, fellowship with accountability amongst God’s people, and firm obedience to God’s Word. When these things are closely monitored and adhered to, significant impact is guaranteed in the spiritual realm. But if these things are disregarded, the results will be shipwrecked faith, carnal and worldly lifestyle manifesting inside the church. When this occurs, God’s people and His ministry are totally affected. Thus, significant impact of the church must begin in the spiritual realm first and foremost in pushing Satan’s wiles and plans in order to achieve the intended impact.

In view of this, let me encourage you that although many of our brethren are falling away in our midst; know that there are more believers that are holding on securely in keeping their faith life intact with utmost care and fear of God. There might be stumbling blocks along our way but let us choose to view them as stepping stones instead. And having this kind of perspective will produce significant impact that we desire. Therefore, let the church arise and take its place of victory over all the works of the enemy today, tomorrow and until Jesus comes. May we remain faithful and persevering until He comes!

Let’s talk again!

Insights from the Word: Renewed Purpose

As the New Year dawned on all of us, what have you thought about its arrival? I j0309389hope that a feeling of excitement was boiling within us. If not, then we will be disappointed again. Life must always be filled with longings for better things and a renewed purpose for every year that arrives. Simply put, it is having a shimmering hope that can never be drowned out by any negative circumstances encountered in the past year. There is an attitude of looking forward for a better tomorrow. And this is what God has embedded in us to have as we live our lives. It must reach its fullest potential. Nothing is farther from the truth. Remember that we were made to be a “Somebody” not a “Nobody.”

There is an old legend of a swan and a crane: A beautiful swan alighted by the banks of the water in which a crane was wading about seeking snails. For a few moments the crane viewed the swan in stupid wonder and then inquired: "Where do you come from?" "I come from heaven!" replied the swan. "And where is heaven?" asked the crane. "Heaven!" said the swan, "Heaven! Have you never heard of heaven?" And the beautiful bird went on to describe the grandeur of the Eternal City. She told of streets of gold, and the gates and walls made of precious stones; of the river of life, pure as crystal, upon whose banks is the tree whose leaves shall be for the healing of the nations. In eloquent terms the swan sought to describe the hosts who live in the other world, but without arousing the slightest interest on the part of the crane. Finally the crane asked: "Are there any snails there?" "Snails!" repeated the swan; "no! Of course there are not." "Then," said the crane, as it continued its search along the slimy banks of the pool, "you can have your heaven. I want snails!" Why do we hold on so tightly to what we are familiar with? The things of heaven are so much superior; but we would hate to give up our "snails." We need to pray to our good Lord to help us to desire the things of heaven, the better things beyond this life.

Having such a perspective allows us to maximize our existence on earth and intentionally pursue to better ourselves in every opportunity we receive. It is to acquire a renewed purpose to propel us to gain the best of what is still available. Here’s an illustration from a Sycamore fig tree that the chief tax collector named Zacchaeus who climbed it and eventually changed his life and gave him a renewed purpose in life: A sycamore is a sturdy tree with wide-spreading branches. It has a short trunk with low limbs that allow for ease in climbing. The name "sycamore" is Greek for false fig. A normal fig has soft skin. It is juicy, tasty and sold rather expensively. On the other hand, the fruit of the sycamore tree looks like a fig but its skin is hard. The fruit is inferior to the fig tree and has to be punctured to become edible. The moment a sycamore fruit is pierced, a breath of fresh air enters it and it will ripen into a soft, sweet, juicy fruit--just like a real fig. So while normal figs ripen on their own, a sycamore fruit will not. They require external intervention.

What an interesting similarity that we could draw out from such a tree that resembles many of our situations as the New Year approaches. Each of us whether we agree or not apparently needs an external intervention to have a renewed purpose for living. Jesus was the external intervention that we need to thrust us to greater things that we do not intend to become. It was due to many extenuating circumstances that we have lost our original purpose and became accustomed without it. We must never lose sight of the better things just because we have what we need and they are just that. God’s plan and purpose has many things to offer those that are ready to receive it. If you are willing, then be ready for 2010 because God is in it!

Let’s talk again!
